Iran is disconnected from the global banking system; international cards are not valid in Iran. Therefore, it's necessary to have cash for your trip. Without declaration, visitors are allowed to bring in up to 10,000 USD. Currency exchange in Iran is possible for dollars and euros.


Traveling to Iran and Concerns about Visas
Having an Iranian visa in your passport does not limit obtaining a US visa or visiting Israel. Iranian visas are issued separately and are not stamped in passports. There are no entry or exit stamps in passports.
Visa Application Process for Russian Citizens
To obtain a visa to Iran, a reference code is required, which can be obtained at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow or at Tehran airport. The following data about each traveler, filled out in English, is needed:

• Profession/Job Title
• Marital Status
• Other Nationality (if applicable)
• Phone Number
• Email

Additionally, scanned copies of passports and a color photo are required. The visa fee is around 40 USD.
Dress Code in Iran
There are government requirements regarding appearance and dress code for citizens and guests in Iran. Women must cover their heads in all public spaces, including restaurants and hotel corridors. It's recommended to have lightweight opaque scarves made of natural fabric. Women's clothing should cover arms to the wrists and legs to the ankles, reaching the mid-thigh and not tightly fitting. Loose trousers with elongated jackets or loose shirts reaching mid-thigh are suitable. Men must wear trousers; shorts are not allowed.
Alcohol in Iran
Alcohol is prohibited in Iran. Attempting to bring alcoholic beverages is a violation of state laws and can have serious consequences.

Currency exchange in Iran can be done at shops, trading points, or through street exchange offices. During tours, guides assist guests in exchanging currency, as dealing with the new currency, with two types of currency in circulation (tomans and rials), significant inflation, and Arabic numerals on banknotes, can be complex.

Roaming in Iran provided by Russian operators is charged at a high rate. To avoid unwanted expenses, it is preferable to deactivate it upon entry. Local SIM cards can be purchased at mobile communication centers, street trading points, and sometimes at hotel desks. VPN services, which are paid, can also be activated. To obtain a SIM card, a passport is required. In Iranian hotels, the passport remains with the hotel administration for the entire stay. Therefore, when going to buy a SIM card, remember to ask for your passport at the reception, promising to return it upon your return.

You can rest assured, that when visiting the Islamic Republic of Iran, the visa is issued as a separate document and not stamped in the passport. There are no entries or exits stamped in the passport.
